[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 8th, Assemblyman Hong Jun-pyo, who participated in the primary election to select the People Power Party's presidential candidate, held a camp disbandment ceremony. Assemblyman Hong said, "I accept the primary election results, but my role ends here," drawing a line on his future course of action.

On that day, Assemblyman Hong said, "I also said during the party convention that I would not participate in a corrupt presidential election." He added, "The prosecution has become the institution deciding the presidential election," and said, "One of the two candidates will have to go to prison if they lose."

He continued, "I have never taken the microphone during former Chairman Lee Hoi-chang's presidential election," and said, "Although it is not illegal, I could not accept that the sons of the two candidates did not serve in the military, so I never took the microphone on the podium."

Assemblyman Hong also emphasized, "This presidential election seems like a 'Sunset Outlaw' election." He added, "In this presidential election, I played my role in creating national excitement, and that is the end of it," and said, "I am sorry and apologize for not being able to repay everyone who enthusiastically supported and cheered for me."

He also emphasized, "I will never forget the feelings I have for those who worked with me until the end of my political life."

He concluded the disbandment ceremony by saying, "I am grateful and moved to be treated like this as a loser. I will end it here. It is right for the loser to leave quietly."

At the disbandment ceremony venue that day, supporters of Assemblyman Hong gathered so densely that there was hardly any space to stand. Former Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung and former Incheon Mayor Ahn Sang-soo, who had publicly declared their support, also attended.
