Gwangyang City Wins Forest Service Director Award as 2nd Nationwide for Eco-Friendly Anti-Erosion Facilities 원본보기 아이콘


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Gwangyang City in Jeonnam announced on the 1st that it won the Excellence Award, the Forest Service Director's Award, in the '4th Eco-friendly Erosion Control Facility Best Practice' contest hosted by the Korea Forest Service.


This award is a great achievement as it won the top prize in Jeonnam and the second place nationwide, recognizing Gwangyang City as an excellent area for forest erosion control projects.


The city applied for the contest with erosion control dams and stream conservation facilities constructed eco-friendly within the Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest Healing Forest, using techniques such as garden erosion control. Based on on-site evaluations and public voting, it was selected for the Excellence Award.


Baek Hyung-geun, Director of Forest Income Division, said, "The erosion control project is promoted for residents' safety, and based on the award results, we will strive to construct eco-friendly erosion control projects harmonized with the surrounding natural landscape," adding, "We will do our best to manage erosion control facilities and 86 erosion control dams in the region."
