[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Recently, among the 2030 generation, ‘hyangmeong’ has emerged as a new trend, and incense sticks, a stick-type scented candle, are gaining great popularity.

According to CJ Olive Young on the 13th, sales of incense sticks from July to the 11th of this month increased by 92% compared to the same period last year.

Incense sticks refer to burning incense or scented sticks. In the past, they were mainly used for therapeutic or religious purposes, but recently they have been used for mental and physical relaxation and fragrance diffusion. Especially among young people who enjoy home training or meditation at home, incense sticks are gaining attention as a means of so-called ‘aromatherapy’ that helps restore balance to the body and mind and relieve stress.

An Olive Young official said, “Recently, among young people who enjoy hyangmeong to heal themselves and manage stress, incense sticks are being recognized as the optimal healing item,” adding, “We will actively introduce and nurture items targeting the lifestyle of the younger generation, including incense sticks.”
