Mr. Choi Wonsu of Hwanam-myeon, Sangju-si 'Hongro', High Sugar Content and Attractive Color

Sangju apples, awarded the grand prize at the Gyeongbuk direct transaction market product evaluation.

Apples produced by an apple farm in Hwanam-myeon, Sangju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, won the grand prize, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award, at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural and Specialty Products Direct Market Fair.

The grand prize winner is Mr. Choi Won-soo. He won the grand prize by submitting Hongro apples, which are known for their high sugar content and excellent color.

The 2021 Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural and Specialty Products Direct Market Fair was held from the 10th to the 12th at Duryu Park in Daegu.

Members of the Korean Agricultural Managers Sangju-si Federation participated from Sangju-si.

With Mr. Choi’s award, it is expected to greatly help promote agricultural products from the Sangju area and facilitate direct distribution to consumers in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions.

Nam Kwang-woo, president of the Korean Agricultural Managers Sangju-si Federation, said, “The excellent agricultural products from the Gyeongsangbuk-do region competing for their skills and Sangju’s agricultural products winning the grand prize is not only an honor for one farmer,” adding, “I believe this is an encouragement and support given to all farmers in Sangju who have sustained agriculture by overcoming hardships such as abnormal weather and frequent monsoons.”

The 2021 Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural and Specialty Products Direct Market Fair was held to promote our agricultural products to consumers and to activate direct transactions. Two winners were selected and awarded for each category: grand prize, gold prize, silver prize, bronze prize, and encouragement prize.
