The main activity plans of the special committee include understanding the progress of government and executive branch policies related to the Namgang Dam flood control capacity enhancement project, visiting the National Assembly and central government ministries, forming a broad regional consensus and cooperation system, and adopting government recommendation proposals.
The special committee received a report from the executive branch on the progress of major tasks related to the response to the Namgang Dam enhancement project and urged Gyeongnam Province to take proactive measures.
Additionally, at the 2nd meeting, the committee adopted a government recommendation proposal urging the enactment of a special law on damages related to the Namgang Dam enhancement project and the establishment of damage countermeasures.
The recommendation letter includes content calling for the enactment of a special law for the residents of Gyeongnam Province who are suffering damages due to the Namgang Dam discharge, and emphasizes that the opinions of residents around Namgang Dam, whose survival and safety are threatened, should be collected to prioritize the establishment of flood damage countermeasures before proceeding with the project.
Park Jeong-yeol, chairman of the special committee, stated, "Proactive response is required more than ever," and urged, "Please prepare extraordinary measures to minimize flood damage to residents near Namgang Dam, marine environmental destruction, and fishery losses."
