[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced that Shin Won-sik (65), former full-time vice chairman of the Korea Natural Gas and Hydrogen Vehicle Association, officially began his duties on the 7th as the 20th Deputy Governor for Political Affairs.
Deputy Governor Shin, a native of Buan, graduated from Dongseong High School in Seoul and Seoul National University with a degree in linguistics, and entered public service through the 24th Administrative Examination in 1980.
He served in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (now the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy), working in the International Cooperation Division and Industrial Policy Division, and left public service after serving as head of the Trade Support Division. He then held positions such as director at Samsung Heavy Industries, executive director at Hyosung Machinery Industry Co., Ltd., and CEO of Iljin Electric Co., Ltd. Recently, he worked as the full-time vice chairman of the Korea Natural Gas and Hydrogen Vehicle Association under the Ministry of Environment.
Jeonbuk Province expects Deputy Governor Shin, who has extensive experience, seniority, and a broad network from working in the central government and various private companies, to be a suitable candidate to oversee key tasks of the 7th local government administration, including fostering new growth engine industries and attracting corporate investment.
Deputy Governor Shin said, “I consider it a great honor to have the opportunity to dedicate myself to the development of my hometown,” and added, “Based on the rich experience and network I have built in the central government and private sector, I will work to revitalize the economy by improving Jeonbuk’s economic structure and responding to the industrial paradigm shifts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.”
