원본보기 아이콘[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) has secured 349.8 billion KRW in national funding related to Muan County in the 2022 government budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly, giving momentum to the promotion of local projects.
According to the county on the 2nd, projects directly implemented by Jeollanam-do in the SOC sector include the construction of an access road to the aviation specialized industrial complex (2 billion KRW), the second phase of the Honam High-Speed Railway project (261.7 billion KRW), the runway extension project at Muan International Airport (17.6 billion KRW), and the construction of a new integrated terminal building at Muan International Airport (1 billion KRW). These projects will provide significant impetus for Muan International Airport to establish itself as a global gateway airport in the southwestern region.
Additionally, budgets have been allocated for key projects aimed at improving residents' quality of life, such as the large-scale agricultural development project in the Yeongsan River IV district (42 billion KRW), sports-related projects including the expansion of sports facilities in Naman New Town (5.5 billion KRW), and sewerage maintenance projects like the flood prevention project in the Mangun sewerage priority management area (1.7 billion KRW), thereby solidifying the foundation for Muan’s century-long development plan.
Muan County has been striving to secure national funding by holding three rounds of national and provincial funding discovery meetings to finalize national projects, submitting and proposing them to Jeollanam-do and relevant ministries, and regularly sharing project progress.
In particular, the county has actively pursued budget acquisition by collaborating closely with National Assembly member Seo Sam-seok to request national funding for major projects, and by visiting government ministries such as the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety four times to emphasize the validity of the projects and the necessity of budget support.
Governor Kim San stated, “Until the budget is finally approved by the National Assembly on December 2, we will continue to work closely with Jeollanam-do and local lawmakers to ensure that the budget is reflected as much as possible.”
