[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Chang-ryong, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, visited Gwangju to inspect public safety sites and encourage police officers working on the front lines.
According to the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency on the 31st, Commissioner Kim visited public safety sites in the Gwangju area, including the Gwangju Police Agency, Gwangju City Hall, and Nam-gu Daechon Administrative Welfare Center.
First, at Gwangju City Hall, he had a cordial meeting with Mayor Lee Yong-seop and Kim Tae-bong, Chairman of the Autonomous Police Committee, to discuss the successful establishment of the autonomous police.
He then visited the Gwangju Police Agency to encourage employees who contributed to the arrest of drug offenders and urged them to strive to realize citizen-centered investigations.
He also attended a meeting held at the Nam-gu Daechon Administrative Welfare Center, expressing gratitude to Nam-gu, the Nam-gu Council, and the Nambu Police Station for their help in enacting the Crime Prevention Support Ordinance, and toured the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) site at ‘Raon-gil’ in front of Daechon Jungang Elementary School.
Commissioner Kim Chang-ryong said, “For the autonomous police to take root stably, public-private-police cooperation at the basic local government level is important,” adding, “We will strive to become a police force respected and loved by citizens.”
