[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Hwang Gyu-yeon, the current president of the Korea Resources Corporation, has been appointed as the first president of the Korea Mine Reclamation Corporation, which will be launched on the 10th of next month.


According to industry sources on the 31st, the government has appointed Hwang as the inaugural president and plans to present the appointment letter soon.


Appointee Hwang was born in Namwon, Jeonbuk, graduated from Hanyang University with a degree in Public Administration, and majored in Policy Science at Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. He passed the 30th Administrative Examination in 1986 and served as Director General of Trade Policy and Director General of Industrial Infrastructure at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. From 2016, he served as the chairman of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation for three and a half years before assuming the presidency of the Korea Resources Corporation in March. Hwang will begin a three-year term with the launch of the corporation.
