Merkel: "Germany to Provide 70 Million Vaccine Doses to COVAX"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Major foreign media reported on the 28th that Germany announced it will provide 70 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to COVAX, an international project for joint vaccine procurement and distribution this year.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated at a press conference following a summit with African leaders the previous day that Germany will provide 70 million doses, more than double the previously promised 30 million doses.

Merkel expressed confidence that there could be a "gradual transfer of technology" to enable COVID-19 vaccine production in Africa, according to foreign media reports.
