[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Samsung Electronics and Apple’s Bluetooth earphones were found to be relatively 'very excellent' in terms of sound and call quality as well as external noise cancellation.
On the 26th, the Korea Consumer Agency released the test and evaluation results of 10 Bluetooth earphone products.
In the evaluation of sound quality, which indicates whether the original sound is reproduced without distortion, five products including Samsung Electronics (Galaxy Buds Pro), Apple (AirPods Pro), AKG (N400), JBL (CLUB PRO+ TWS), and LG Electronics (Tone+ HBS-TFN7) were rated as relatively 'very excellent.'
The QCY (HT01) product was rated 'excellent,' while two products, PSE Ventures (PENTON FLEX) and Britz (HERAPOP TWS), were rated 'good.' Two products, Xiaomi (Redmi Airdot) and MG Tech (Iron V70), were rated as 'average.'
In the evaluation of external noise cancellation performance, which checked call quality in various environments such as quiet or noisy settings and the effectiveness of reducing various surrounding noises, two products, Samsung Electronics and Apple, were rated as relatively 'very excellent.'
When checking the continuous playback time of a sound of a certain volume with a fully charged battery, there was up to a 2.5 times difference between products (3 hours 53 minutes to 9 hours 32 minutes). The MG Tech product had the longest playback time at 9 hours 32 minutes, while the Xiaomi product had the shortest at 3 hours 53 minutes.
The Xiaomi product was found to have violated electrical appliance safety standards by omitting labeling despite having received certification (KC) for its built-in battery. Since in-ear canal-type earphones that fit tightly in the ear can cause ear inflammation when used for long periods or worn while contaminated with foreign substances (such as sweat), the Consumer Agency recommended 'labeling precautions for preventing ear inflammation.' Additionally, seven brands including Samsung Electronics, MG Tech, PSE Ventures, AKG, JBL, LG Electronics, and QCY have accepted the recommendation and plan to label the precautions.
