[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief Jo Yoonman) announced that at 7:34 a.m. on the 25th, they received a report that crew member B (in his 60s) of cargo ship A, which was entering Samyang Thermal Power Plant, had been complaining of abdominal pain since the previous day.
The Jeju Maritime Police safely transported the emergency patient from the tanker to Jeju Port using a rescue team's high-speed boat and handed him over to a 119 ambulance.
Accordingly, at around 7:39 a.m., the rescue team was dispatched urgently and waited in the waters near the power plant according to the request of ship A, which was scheduled to berth at Samyang Thermal Power Plant about 40 minutes later.
At around 8:33 a.m., after ship A completed berthing at the power plant pier, the emergency patient B and one guardian were transferred and arrived at Jeju Port Pier 2 at 8:45 a.m., where they were safely handed over to the waiting 119 ambulance on site.
Meanwhile, the Jeju Maritime Police safely transported a total of 32 emergency patients, including 3 emergency patients from cargo ships, using patrol vessels and other means.
