[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jinseop) announced on the 19th that it is accepting nominations for candidates to receive the ‘Citizen’s Award’ at the 27th Citizen’s Day ceremony.
The Citizen’s Award is the highest honor in Jeongeup City, awarded annually in the name of Jeongeup citizens based on the ‘Jeongeup Citizen’s Award Ordinance’ through a selection process.
The city plans to select recipients who have promoted Jeongeup’s honor both domestically and internationally and who have dedicated themselves to the development of city administration through exceptional passion and effort, including citizens and expatriates.
The purpose is to recognize the hard work of citizens who have greatly contributed to the stability and development of the local community and enhanced the city’s honor, thereby boosting pride in being a Jeongeup citizen.
The award categories include a total of eight fields: ▲Culture Award ▲Saemaeul Award ▲Industry Award ▲Public Interest Award ▲Sports Award ▲Hometown Love Award ▲Filial Piety Award ▲Honorary Citizen Award.
Nominees must have made significant contributions to the development of city administration and have resided in the city for at least three years as of the nomination date. Eligible nominators include heads of city-level institutions, heads of social organizations in the relevant fields, heads of eup/myeon/dong (township/district), school principals, company representatives, heads of hometown associations, and heads of departments and offices.
However, the Hometown Love Award and Honorary Citizen Award are exempt from the address and residency requirements.
The application period is until the 15th of next month, and applications can be submitted by visiting the General Affairs Division of City Hall, the relevant eup/myeon offices, or community centers.
The city will conduct thorough on-site fact-finding investigations of applicants and select awardees in each category through a strict review by the Citizen’s Award Screening Committee, and present the awards at the upcoming ‘Jeongeup Citizen’s Day’ ceremony.
A city official said, “We ask for the citizens’ interest and many recommendations so that we can find and honor the unsung heroes who have dedicated and served in their respective positions for the stability and development of the local community.”
