Fire at Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan: "No Radioactive Material Leakage"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Kyodo News reported that a fire broke out at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, at around 5:15 a.m. on the 17th.

According to Kyodo News, citing Chubu Electric Power, the operator of the nuclear power plant, fire alarms on the 1st and 3rd floors of the turbine building of Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant Unit 5 were activated multiple times. It was confirmed that a worker noticed smoke.

However, Chubu Electric Power announced that there are currently no injuries and no external leakage of radioactive materials has been confirmed.
