[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, said about Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who is one day away from parole, "He will need deep reflection."
On the 12th, as Minister Park arrived at the Ministry of Justice Government Gwacheon Office, he met with reporters and said that the parole of Vice Chairman Lee was decided considering social sentiments.
Additionally, regarding the issue of Vice Chairman Lee's employment restrictions, Minister Park responded to the remarks by Sohn Kyung-shik, Chairman of the Korea Employers Federation, suggesting that Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Hong Nam-ki requested convenience from him, saying, "I have not heard any such statements."
He added, "Regarding pardons or parole, I have not received any requests or discussions from the Deputy Prime Minister for Economy or any government officials. That is the Ministry of Justice's policy," and "Employment approval was not considered."
