On the 9th (Korean time) at Southwind Golf Club in Memphis, Tennessee, USA (par 70, 7,233 yards), during the 4th round 11th hole (par 3) of the World Golf Championships (WGC) FedEx St. Jude Invitational (total prize money $10.5 million), his tee shot went into the water as many as five times, resulting in a 10-over-par decuple bogey. Immediately after, he posted on his social media, "I set the record for the most strokes on a par 3 hole today."
He included a photo that appears to have been taken inside a private jet. He smiled brightly, saying, "Kevin Na (USA), the record holder for the most strokes on a par 4 hole, is next to me." Kevin Na once scored 16 strokes on the 9th hole (par 4) during the 1st round of the 2011 Valero Texas Open. The PGA Tour described Kim Si-woo's score as "the worst score recorded here since 1983." He declined interviews with the media after the game.
