[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] In Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, 45 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in one day, marking the highest number of new daily cases in a month.

According to Goyang City health authorities on the 9th, as of 4 p.m. on the 8th, 8 people were infected through contact with confirmed cases from other regions, 8 through family transmission, 1 through acquaintance contact, and 28 cases are under investigation for the source of infection.

By residential area, 18 cases were from Deogyang-gu, 24 from Ilsandong-gu, and 3 from Ilsanseo-gu. The average number of new daily COVID-19 cases in Goyang City over the past month was in the 20s, with 48 infections reported on the 9th of last month.

As of 4 p.m. on the 8th, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Goyang City reached 4,697, with 4,574 confirmed cases among Goyang citizens (4,459 domestic infections and 115 overseas infections).
