[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The presidential campaign of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol has added nine new members, including incumbent senior lawmakers. Additionally, new teams and committees have been launched to develop policies in various fields such as labor and communication.
Yoon's 'People's Camp' announced on the 8th in a statement, "To strengthen policy and communication functions, we have completed the recruitment of additional talents, including incumbent senior lawmakers," and released the list of new appointees.
Incumbent lawmakers from the People Power Party were assigned to policy roles. Lee Jong-bae, a three-term People Power Party lawmaker, was appointed as the head of the Policy General Headquarters, and Yoon Chang-hyun, also from the People Power Party, was appointed as the head of the Economic Policy Headquarters. Lee is a prominent policy expert who previously served as chairman of the People Power Party Policy Committee, mayor of Chungju, and vice minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Yoon holds a Ph.D. in economics and is recognized as an economic expert, having served as president of the Korea Institute of Finance.
Han Mu-gyeong, a People Power Party lawmaker who formerly chaired the Small and Medium Business Committee, was appointed as the head of the Industrial Policy Headquarters.
To strengthen communication with the public, the 'Fairness and Common Sense Committee' and the 'Public Communication Committee' were also established. The Fairness and Common Sense Committee is responsible for developing policies related to the realization of fairness and common sense, which are core values of former Prosecutor General Yoon, with People Power Party lawmaker Jeong Jeom-sik serving as chairman. The Public Communication Committee, responsible for communication with the public, will be chaired by People Power Party lawmaker Jeong Chan-min.
Park Chang-sik, a former Saenuri Party (the predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker and former chairman of the Liberty Korea Party's Public Relations Committee, was appointed as head of the Media Headquarters. He will oversee overall media policy and be responsible for formulating Yoon's media strategy.
Labor-affiliated politicians were also recruited to the camp to develop labor policies. Former Future Korea Party (the predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmakers Jang Seok-chun and Moon Jin-guk, who will serve as standing labor advisors, were previously chairmen of the Korean Metal Workers' Union Federation and the Korean Taxi Workers' Union Federation, respectively.
Additionally, a 'Public Sympathy Team' was newly established to build consensus with the public. Former Seoul City Council member Lee Ji-hyun, who has served on the People Power Party's Platform and Policy Special Committee and the Vision Strategy Office, was appointed as team leader.
