[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 27th that it has secured the feasibility of establishing a facility management corporation to ensure stable management of public facilities and improve the quality of administrative services.
On the same day, Buk-gu held the final report meeting for the feasibility study on the establishment of the facility management corporation, attended by district council members and private experts.
At the final report meeting, a verification review committee was held to verify the feasibility and appropriateness of the study results through in-depth Q&A and open discussion.
In January, the district commissioned the Local Public Enterprise Evaluation Institute to conduct a feasibility study on seven projects in four areas: ▲advertising (designated commercial banner posting stands and bulletin boards), ▲transportation (public parking lots), ▲sports (Taebong Sports Center, Fitness Certification Center, Usan Swimming Pool), and ▲environment (sale of volume-based waste bags and food waste payment certificates).
The Local Public Enterprise Evaluation Institute reportedly stated earlier this month that all seven projects meet the legal requirements stipulated in the Local Public Enterprise Act and that the corporation is expected to generate an annual operating surplus of approximately 275 million KRW.
Buk-gu plans to hold a public hearing next month to gather opinions and proceed with procedures such as consultation with Gwangju City, establishment review committee, and ordinance enactment, aiming to complete the registration of the facility management corporation establishment around November.
District Mayor Moon In said, “Once the facility management corporation is established, efficient personnel management through integrated facility management and consequent budget savings will be possible, along with customer-centered service provision through annual local public enterprise management evaluations and stable job creation.”
