"DNF, Expected Benefits from DRAM Miniaturization and Market Share Expansion"

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Hana Financial Investment forecasted on the 25th that DNF will benefit from the localization of products mainly used in D-RAM devices.

DNF supplies precursors, which are considered semiconductor thin-film process materials. Precursors are substances used in chemical reactions during semiconductor circuit formation. Demand is increasing due to semiconductor miniaturization and higher integration.

Kim Kyungmin, a researcher at Hana Financial Investment, introduced, "Since Japan's export restrictions on process materials in July 2019, DNF has been replacing Japanese companies' precursors and increasing its market share."

He continued, "Among the three main products, hexachlorodisilane has already been localized, and DNF is sharing the market with another Korean supplier

," emphasizing, "The market share is not expected to change significantly."

He explained, "The growth driver for total sales is the contribution of new products' sales or changes in the market share of precursors mainly used in D-RAM devices, and "Since the speed of localization of process materials has accelerated, changes significant enough to alter the leading digit of annual sales will begin this year."

Additionally, he added, "For the two types of precursors mainly used in D-RAM devices, all existing competitors have overseas process material suppliers," and "It is understood that DNF's supply opportunities have expanded during the transition period when D-RAM line widths shift to 1Z and 1a."

Researcher Kim said, "Ultimately, change begins with recognized technology from customers and strong relationships with them," and predicted, "DNF will be spotlighted in the semiconductor precursor field."
