[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Bones presumed to be human remains were discovered at the demolition site of the Changseong-dong annex of the Government Seoul Office in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

According to the police on the 23rd, the Jongno Police Station in Seoul received a report at around 10:20 a.m. that day about a piece of bone believed to be a human thigh bone found at the demolition site of the Changseong-dong annex. A construction worker found the remains at the site the previous day and reported it on the day of discovery.

The remains, presumed to be the thigh bone of an adult male, appeared to be quite old to the naked eye. No other bones were found around the site.

The police believe the possibility of a crime is low, considering that the building where the remains were found was completed in the 1960s and that the construction was carried out without digging into the ground at the time of building. The Cultural Heritage Administration also judged that the discovered remains have no cultural heritage value.

The police plan to request an analysis from the National Forensic Service to verify the exact facts.
