Mayor Oh Se-hoon Holds 'Public-Private Joint Response to COVID-19' Meeting with Heads of Six Tertiary Hospitals

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 14th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon held a 'COVID-19 Public-Private Cooperation Joint Response Meeting' with the directors of six tertiary general hospitals in the mayor's office to request cooperation for the smooth operation of the residential treatment centers.

The meeting was attended by Kim Yeon-su, Director of Seoul National University Hospital; Kim Yong-sik, Director of The Catholic University of Korea Seoul St. Mary's Hospital; Oh Joo-hyung, Director of Kyung Hee University Hospital; Park Jong-hoon, Director of Korea University Anam Hospital; Kwon Oh-jung, Director of Samsung Medical Center; and Park Seung-il, Director of Asan Medical Center.

Mayor Oh requested active cooperation and support from the tertiary general hospitals regarding the stable operation of the centers, including medical personnel support, as residential treatment centers are being expanded due to the recent surge in confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, Seoul City operates 18 residential treatment centers with 3,289 beds for asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients. Currently, 2,370 beds are in use (operating rate 72.1%), and 441 beds are immediately available for admission.

A Seoul city official explained, "Seoul plans to expand an additional 1,240 beds by next week, including 334 beds today, but securing medical institutions to operate the residential treatment centers is as urgent as expanding the beds."
