[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province will conduct joint inspections by the province, cities, and counties on rivers and valleys from July 1 to August 31 to prepare for the summer peak season.

According to the province on the 27th, from July, when many vacationers are expected, inspections will be strengthened on living convenience facilities and management status in rivers and valleys, as well as crackdowns on illegal dumping and unauthorized facilities.

The targets are 13 rivers and valleys in 9 cities and counties, including Pocheon Baegun Valley, Yangju Jangheung Valley, and Gapyeong Jojongcheon, which are expected to be the most crowded with vacationers.

In particular, inspections that were conducted twice a week on weekdays during May and June will be expanded to daily inspections including weekends in July and August.

The province will operate a situation room with cities and counties on weekends and holidays to respond promptly to complaints and other situations, and will deploy two river monitoring teams to conduct inspections and guidance simultaneously.

Illegal business activities will be reported to cities and counties for demolition and correction according to relevant laws, and any deficiencies or areas needing improvement will be immediately addressed through guidance activities under supervision.

In July, the Special Judicial Police Unit will intensively investigate illegal occupation and business activities and will strongly respond by criminally prosecuting habitual violators.

Meanwhile, during May and June, the province took action on 4 cases of illegal dumping and 1 illegal facility, and plans to complete improvements and supplements to convenience facilities before the peak season.
