The Korea Meteorological Administration announced on the 15th that the entire country is cloudy, with rain falling in the southern regions excluding Gangwon Yeongdong and northern inland Gyeongbuk, as well as Jeju Island. Drizzles are expected in the Chungcheong area and northern inland Gyeongbuk until night.
In the western Jeolla region, rain will continue through the night, and in the eastern Jeolla region, southern inland Gyeongbuk, Gyeongsang region, and Jeju Island, rain will fall until the next morning before stopping. Due to topographical effects, light rain is expected to continue in eastern Jeju Island and mountainous areas until the morning of the 17th.
Expected precipitation amounts are 10 to 40 mm for Jeju Island, coastal areas of Gyeongnam, and southern coastal areas of Gyeongbuk; and 5 to 20 mm for the Jeolla region, southern inland Gyeongbuk, northern East Coast of Gyeongbuk, Gangwon Yeongdong, inland Gyeongnam, and Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
Daytime temperatures on the 16th are forecasted to be around 30 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country.
Morning low temperatures by region are expected to range from 16 to 21 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs from 19 to 29 degrees Celsius.
As the east wind continues until the 16th, dense fog with visibility below 200 meters is expected in the mountainous areas of Gangwon, and fog with visibility less than 1 km may occur along the east coasts of Gangwon and Gyeongbuk, so caution is advised for traffic safety.
The Korea Meteorological Administration especially emphasized that tunnels passing through the Taebaek Mountains may experience a sudden decrease in visibility toward the east coast side, so drivers should maintain sufficient distance between vehicles and reduce speed to prevent rear-end collisions and other accidents.
