[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Choi Jong-geon, First Vice Foreign Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, departed for the United States on the 8th to discuss follow-up measures to the Korea-US summit.


Before departing from Incheon International Airport, Vice Minister Choi told reporters, "I am heading to the US to continuously oversee the follow-up outcomes of the Korea-US summit," adding, "I plan to discuss various regional issues, the Korean Peninsula issue, and other matters at a high-level working meeting with Deputy Secretary Sherman."


On the 9th (local time), Vice Minister Choi is scheduled to meet Wendy Sherman, US Deputy Secretary of State, in Washington D.C. to discuss follow-up measures to the Korea-US summit, bilateral issues, the Korean Peninsula, and global matters.


This face-to-face consultation between the Korea-US deputy foreign ministers is the first since Deputy Secretary Sherman’s official inauguration in April.
