[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A man identified as A, who fell into the sea about 150 meters west of Hyeonsa Port in Jeju City in the early hours of the 2nd, was rescued by the Jeju Coast Guard.

According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station, at around 12:31 a.m. that day, an emergency call reporting hearing cries for help from the sea in front of Naedo-dong, Jeju City (west of Hyeonsa Port) prompted the dispatch of a rescue team.

Upon arrival, two rescue team members immediately jumped into the sea to locate the drowning man A, but due to the lack of visibility at night, it was impossible to pinpoint his location by voice alone.

Eventually, with the help of nearby citizens, Jeju Coast Guard rescue officer Park Jin-guk, who was searching from the shore, confirmed A’s location and swam approximately 150 meters barehanded to safely rescue him and handed him over to the 119 ambulance.

The man who fell into the sea, a man in his 40s, was in a state of severe hypothermia and unable to speak, but was promptly transported to a central city hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
