[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) conducted disaster situation response training on the 26th of last month at the Incident Command Training Center (ICTC) located in Eunpyeong-gu for the staff members of the Integrated Support Headquarters.
The training session was an opportunity for Jongno-gu Integrated Support Headquarters and Jongno Fire Station Emergency Rescue Control Team to jointly manage incidents and strengthen organic cooperation systems among disaster response agencies.
The ICTC, where the training was held, is a specialized disaster commander training center utilizing 3D virtual reality simulation (360° screen) replicating real-life scenarios, established in 2016 within the Eunpyeong Fire Station Citizen Experience Center.
At this center, Jongno-gu simulated a large-scale apartment complex fire, a frequent occurrence in metropolitan areas, conducting the entire process from the initial 119 emergency call reception to response and recovery in a realistic manner, aiming to establish disaster response procedures and operational systems.
Additionally, to enhance the crisis management capabilities of disaster personnel, unexpected situations that could occur in real scenarios were introduced. The Integrated Support Headquarters staff responded in real-time to various situations such as casualty management, relief for displaced persons, volunteer coordination, and requests for emergency building safety inspections.
Meanwhile, the district has consistently participated in Safety Korea drills and other exercises to thoroughly inspect disaster response systems and contribute to the spread of a safety culture.
Furthermore, based on close cooperation among related organizations, efforts have been made to build response capabilities, master disaster response manuals, and address any shortcomings.
Kim Young-jong, Mayor of Jongno-gu, stated, “It was an opportunity to strengthen crisis capabilities by responding to virtual situations similar to actual scenes,” adding, “We will strive to minimize damage to residents by responding effectively to disaster situations that can occur at any time.”
