[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Electronics announced on the 5th that it has built and introduced the next-generation ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system called 'N-ERP.'
ERP is a system that integratively manages a company's physical and financial resources to transparently share management information and enable efficient business processing. A Samsung Electronics official explained, "We developed this system over 30 months based on the latest technology specialized ERP solution package to establish an innovative platform that can support changes in the future business environment, such as the emergence of new businesses and convergence."
Samsung Electronics' 'N-ERP' applied an 'in-memory database' system to improve data processing and analysis speed, and added parallel connections of large-capacity hardware to respond to rapid data growth due to business expansion. Additionally, it built a flexible architecture and process to respond to new businesses such as D2C (Direct-to-Consumer). It can analyze large volumes of consumer order status and overall supply chain situations in real time due to the recent expansion of online sales, and based on this data, detailed management simulations are also possible.
Data between internal and external systems is linked in real time to enable effective collaboration across all internal and external organizations, and a cloud-based specialized solution was introduced to support work in various business environments. New technologies such as AI-based decision support and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for business automation were also adopted. A process automation platform was built, including machine learning to support decision-making, OCR to recognize text, and chatbots to assist with business processing through chat.
This system was first applied to subsidiaries in East and Southeast Asia and China, and is scheduled to be sequentially introduced to subsidiaries worldwide by January next year.
Samsung Electronics' Moon Sungwoo, Head of the Management Innovation Center (Executive Vice President), said, "Building an ERP system based on the latest technology is a leading case among global companies," adding, "N-ERP will serve as the most important platform supporting Samsung Electronics' digital innovation."
