[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG HelloVision Hello Mobile announced on the 2nd that it will provide a non-face-to-face subscription service using the ‘Naver Certificate.’ This allows users to subscribe to phones and plans without credit cards or universal certificates, enhancing the accessibility of budget phones for consumers in the untact era. To commemorate the introduction of the Naver Certificate, a ‘USIM 1,000 won’ promotion will also be held.
This service was launched after approval from the Ministry of Science and ICT’s ICT Regulatory Sandbox. At the end of last year, LG HelloVision, together with LG Uplus and Medialog, obtained a temporary permit for the ‘non-face-to-face mobile subscription service using the Naver Certificate.’
The Naver Certificate is a type of ‘online ID’ that supports non-face-to-face identity verification and can be issued within 10 seconds after logging into Naver on PC or mobile. Based on various security technologies applied to the certificate, users can verify their identity safely and easily.
The subscription process using the Naver Certificate is simple. When filling out the subscription application for the desired device or plan on the Hello Mobile Direct Mall, users just need to select the Naver Certificate as the identity verification method. After the initial one-time consent to terms and information provision, verification is easily completed through device lock information, and it can be used for both new subscriptions and number portability.
To celebrate the introduction of the Naver Certificate, Hello Mobile will provide a ‘USIM 1,000 won (original price 8,800 won) purchase coupon’ to the first 1,000 customers who ‘store pick’ on the Hello Mobile Naver Store and intend to purchase a USIM. The purchased USIM can be used by entering the serial number when subscribing to the desired USIM plan on the Hello Mobile Direct Mall.
Han Jeong-ho, head of LG HelloVision’s mobile business division, said, “Since the Naver Certificate is a service with high consumer usage frequency and satisfaction, we expect it to provide practical convenience to budget phone subscribers,” adding, “We will continue to introduce various services that enhance online channel accessibility and innovate customer value in the untact era.”
