[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Electronics announced on the 31st that it will launch a professional baseball-specialized service on its webOS TV for domestic baseball fans who find it difficult to attend games in stadiums due to social distancing measures.
In line with the opening of the professional baseball season early next month, the 2021 model webOS TV, released domestically, will offer various services from 'PAIGE,' a baseball information application based on NCSoft's artificial intelligence technology.
PAIGE provides users with highlights, player information, and more for the teams they support. It also supports a chatbot function that allows customers to easily receive necessary information through conversations with the AI.
LG webOS TV customers can use voice commands via 'LG ThinQ' to access the services provided by PAIGE. For example, if a user says, "Tell me today's LG Twins lineup," LG ThinQ links with the PAIGE app to respond to the query.
Additionally, customers can ask about specific player statistics from particular games, such as "How did Chae Eun-sung perform in yesterday's game?" or inquire about game results by saying, "Tell me the LG Twins game result from yesterday," to check the outcomes of games held on specific dates.
LG Electronics is also expanding collaborations with various online video services (OTT) such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Watcha. 'LG Channels,' which allows users to watch various channels for free by simply connecting their smart TV to the internet, currently offers over 1,600 channels across 14 countries worldwide.
Baek Seon-pil, Executive Director of TV Product Planning at LG Electronics, said, "We will strive to provide various services tailored to customer preferences and deliver an impressive experience to customers using LG TVs."
