[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle announced on the 25th that it has launched the 'Prima Medium Knuckle Crane,' a modified version of the premium medium-to-large truck model Prima.

Special purpose vehicles refer to vehicles equipped with special equipment and structures for specific uses, unlike general cargo trucks that use standard cargo beds for transporting goods. They are produced and utilized in various forms such as box trucks, ambulances, fire trucks, cranes, welfare vehicles, trailers, dump trucks, and broadcast vehicles.

The medium-to-large truck 'Prima' is a premium truck equipped with a proven engine that meets the latest Euro 6 emission regulations, and Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle explained that it is widely modified and used in the logistics market based on its excellent power performance and ample cargo space.

The newly launched Prima Medium Knuckle Crane, also called a grapple truck or articulated crane, is a special purpose vehicle for handling general waste. It is equipped with the high-performance 'HIAB12000XG' knuckle crane from Sweden's HIAB.

The Prima Medium Knuckle Crane offers a crane capacity of 11.6tm and a maximum working radius of 8 meters, providing operational efficiency. It is also equipped with an engine producing a maximum output of 320 horsepower and maximum torque of 112 kgf·m, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission from Germany's ZF. Additionally, it is designed to support loads of 7.5 tons on the front axle and 10 tons on the rear axle to ensure safety.

Kim Bang-shin, President of Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle, said, "Our special purpose vehicle lineup embodies the technology and know-how accumulated over years of commercial vehicle development, boasting optimal work efficiency. We will continue to listen to our customers and develop our trucks to enhance competitiveness in the logistics market."
