#2. Ms. Go started preparing for employment later than her peers, facing many difficulties. She received a card through an acquaintance who found a job via the vocational training support program 'National Tomorrow Learning Card' and succeeded in getting a job at an information technology (IT) company.
On the 17th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor held an awards ceremony for the '2020 National Tomorrow Learning Card Excellent Case Essay Contest' and announced outstanding cases of those who succeeded in employment or entrepreneurship after receiving vocational training.
The National Tomorrow Learning Card, used by job seekers and entrepreneurs, is a program that supports training costs so that citizens can participate in vocational training on their own. Initially operated mainly for the unemployed and workers, the program expanded its eligibility to all citizens, including freelancers, starting last year.
It supports 45-100% of actual training costs up to 3 to 5 million KRW for five years from the account issuance date. If attendance exceeds 80% in a month, a training incentive of up to 116,000 KRW is provided.
The Ministry of Employment announced that last year, 905,379 cards were issued, and 552,192 people received training. These figures increased by 26.8% (191,243 people) and 4.4% (23,130 people), respectively, compared to the previous year.

Song Hongseok, Director of the Vocational Competency Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Employment, said, "The vivid success stories of the contest winners will serve as hopeful examples for all citizens that they can achieve their dreams of employment or entrepreneurship even in difficult situations such as COVID-19."
Director Song added, "Going forward, we will establish a lifelong vocational competency development system that effectively responds to changing employment conditions such as COVID-19 and digital transformation by providing not only vocational training but also humanities, liberal arts, and basic digital competency education."
