원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has unveiled the construction site ahead of the full-scale underground construction of the Dongbuk Line urban railway section in Seongbuk-gu.
Seongbuk-gu was the first to propose the Dongbuk Line urban railway to alleviate transportation inconveniences for residents in urban railway underserved areas.
Among the 16 stations on the Dongbuk Line, Seongbuk-gu will have 6 stations: Station 104 (Korea University Station, transfer to Line 6), Station 105 (in front of Sungnye Elementary School), Station 106 (Jongam Police Station), Station 107 (Miasageori Station, transfer to Line 4), Station 108 (in front of Changmun Girls' High School), and Station 109 (Buk Seoul Dream Forest).
Among these, Station 105 (Jongam Post Office, in front of Sungnye Elementary School), Station 108 (Wolgok Raemian Apartments, in front of Changmun Girls' High School), and Ventilation Shaft 108 (Buk Seoul Dream Forest) are accelerating construction with a target completion in 2025.
Seongbuk-gu also proposed installing escalators instead of the originally planned stair entrances at the stations for residents' convenience, and is promoting the installation of at least one escalator at every station entrance in the area.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, "Once the Dongbuk Line urban railway opens, it will improve the convenience of urban railway use in Seongbuk-gu and the northeastern region of Seoul, alleviate traffic congestion, and greatly contribute to regional economic revitalization as well as local development."
Seongbuk-gu plans to focus its capabilities to smoothly advance the long-awaited Dongbuk Line urban railway project.
