[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City announced on the 14th that it held a report meeting on this year's major business implementation plans at the city hall situation room the previous day, focusing on analyzing this year's major business implementation plans, key projects, and underperforming projects.


The report meeting centered on 97 New Deal projects, 304 ongoing projects including pledge and current issue tasks, and 201 new projects. After departmental reports, time was allocated for discussions and Q&A sessions to enhance work execution capabilities.


The Gwangyang-type New Deal projects include ▲ Establishment of a drone-utilized industrial facility safety inspection demonstration support center ▲ Transition to eco-friendly vehicles and charging infrastructure construction in the national industrial complex ▲ Creation of a Media-Art Wall that shines day and night ▲ Gwangyeong Dochon Port Fishing Village New Deal project ▲ Installation of black box security lights in high-crime areas ▲ Construction of an automated container terminal (Phase 3-2), with a total investment of 1.0946 trillion KRW planned by 2025.


This year's key projects include the creation of a beach tourism theme street at the Yi Sun-sin Bridge, a family-type children's theme park, the development of Gubongsan tourist complex, restoration of the Seomjin River waterway and construction of the Mangdeok Port marine leisure complex, establishment of an eco-friendly lithium secondary battery recycling technology development demonstration center, construction of a knowledge industry center for materials and components in the Gwangyang Bay area, and the establishment of a small and medium enterprise training center in the southern coastal and southern central region.


Additionally, to lay the foundation for advancing into a smart green economic city, new policies will be actively discovered and promoted, including ▲ Revision of smart city plans and promotion of smart city construction projects ▲ Establishment of the Gwangyang Love Gift Certificate mobile platform ▲ Construction of an e-sports stadium ▲ Installation of dustproof screens at vulnerable facilities in fine dust intensive management zones.


Mayor Jeong Hyun-bok of Gwangyang emphasized, "Currently, government policies are being promoted in line with the Korean New Deal projects such as the Digital New Deal and Green New Deal, so our city's major projects must also proactively respond in connection with government policies." He added, "This year marks the final year of the 7th elected administration's achievements, and we will enhance the fulfillment of pledge projects promised to citizens to secure administrative reliability, heal the suffering of citizens caused by COVID-19, recover the local economy, and focus administrative power on discovering and fostering new growth engines tailored to the new changes in the post-COVID era."
