[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Korean Air announced on the 13th that it has received the highest rating of '5-star grade' in the Official Airline Ratings evaluation conducted by the U.S.-based APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association).

Founded in 1979 and headquartered in New York, APEX is a non-profit organization with 482 member companies related to the aviation industry, including airlines and aircraft manufacturers. Since 2018, it has been operating an airline rating program based on passenger feedback collected through the TripIt application, and Korean Air has received the 5-star rating for four consecutive years.

APEX's airline rating evaluation collects customer feedback on seats, in-flight service, in-flight meals, and in-flight entertainment from about 1 million flights of approximately 600 airlines worldwide, and the process is conducted after verification by an external professional auditing organization.

Korean Air stated, "The selection for the 5-star rating this time is due to the highly praised differentiated services by customers, such as the first-class Kosmo Suite 2.0 seats that provide comfort in the sky, in-flight entertainment with abundant content, in-flight meals using seasonal ingredients, and high-quality wine," adding, "We plan to continue upgrading our services and develop into a global airline leading the post-COVID-19 era."
