[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] On the second day of payment for the Small Business Support Fund (3rd Disaster Relief Fund) on the 12th, a total of 2.02 million small business owners completed their applications. From the third day, the 13th, applications can be submitted regardless of whether the last digit of the business registration number is odd or even.
According to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, as of 6 p.m. on that day, a total of 2.02 million small business owners had completed their applications for the Support Fund. This figure accounts for 73% of the 2.76 million people targeted for rapid payment, which the government plans to disburse within this month. So far, 1.75 million people have received a total of 2.495 trillion won.
The Support Fund provides 3 million won to businesses subject to gathering bans, 2 million won to businesses with operational restrictions, and 1 million won to general businesses that experienced sales declines due to the third wave of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). However, general businesses must meet the condition of having annual sales of 400 million won or less.
To facilitate smooth applications, an odd-even system based on the last digit of the business registration number was applied on the 11th and 12th, but from the 13th, applications are accepted regardless of odd or even numbers. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to complete payments to the 2.76 million people targeted for the first rapid support within this month, and from the 25th, payments will be made to special quarantine facilities for year-end and New Year holidays such as ski resorts, businesses that opened last year, and gathering ban or operational restriction businesses additionally confirmed by local governments.
