Goheung-gun, Creating a City Where Children and Adolescent Girls Are Happy

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Jeonnam Goheung-gun announced on the 12th that it will promote projects such as UNICEF Child-Friendly City certification, youth education and cultural complex space creation, and Women-Friendly City certification to make Goheung a comfortable and happy place for children, adolescents, and women.

First, to create an environment where children and adolescents can grow up safely and healthily, aiming for 'UNICEF Child-Friendly City' certification in 2022, the county will implement detailed child welfare projects through △establishment of a basic plan △formation of a Child-Friendly City T/F team △assignment of dedicated child protection staff.

To create an education and cultural complex space tailored to the perspective of youth, the county plans to provide customized services for youth by promoting △seismic reinforcement and expansion of the Youth Culture House △installation of the youth rest space ‘YOUTH Hyu’ △installation project of the out-of-school youth support center.

In addition, for the ‘new designation of Women-Friendly City,’ related ordinances were enacted last year, and foundational projects such as women’s employment and entrepreneurship education and creation of safe return home paths were promoted.

This year, the county is conducting △research service for Women-Friendly City foundation △formation and operation of a citizen participation group △plans to promote 18 projects in 5 related fields for the foundation of a Women-Friendly City.

A county official said, “We will do our best to create a local environment where children and adolescents can grow up bright and healthy and a happy Goheung where women are not marginalized and can participate in various social activities.”
