[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the afternoon of the 12th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that due to the issuance of heavy snow warnings in the Seoul metropolitan area including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Chungnam, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) began Level 1 emergency operations at 4:20 PM.


The CDSCH requested local governments to thoroughly carry out snow removal and actively promote the heavy snow public action guidelines through disaster text messages to prevent traffic congestion during commuting hours, as occurred during the heavy snowfall on the 6th.


Jeon Hae-cheol, head of the CDSCH, instructed, "Please mobilize all available resources to thoroughly conduct snow removal operations," and added, "Also, encourage the use of public transportation during commuting hours as much as possible and prepare plans to increase public transportation services."
