[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 12th that it will accelerate its market penetration by unveiling a large number of premium new monitors at CES 2021.

The new products include the high-performance gaming monitors ‘LG UltraGear (model names: 27GP950, 32GP850, 34GP950G)’, the multitasking-optimized ‘LG UltraWide (model name: 40WP95C)’, and the video production professional monitor ‘LG UltraFine OLED Pro (model name: 32EP950)’.

Among these, the LG UltraGear gaming monitor (34GP950G) and the LG UltraWide monitor also received the CES 2021 Innovation Award.

The LG UltraGear gaming monitor’s biggest feature is its optimization for fast-moving games based on a high refresh rate. The 32-inch model supports 165 Hertz (Hz), displaying 165 frames per second, while the 27-inch and 34-inch models support 144 Hertz, displaying 144 frames per second, providing an optimal gaming environment.

Additionally, it meets 98% of the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) standard color gamut DCI-P3 and is equipped with a nano IPS display with a 1 millisecond (1ms, 0.001 seconds) response time, delivering fast and accurate colors.

LG UltraWide Monitor Features a 21:9 Curved Design

The LG UltraWide monitor features a 21:9 curved design, making it convenient for multitasking. It offers 33% more screen space compared to a 16:9 monitor.

It also meets 98% of DCI-P3 and 135% of sRGB, providing a wide color gamut that the monitor can display. sRGB is a standard that indicates how many colors a monitor can reproduce. The new product can display up to 135% of the entire sRGB range.

This product is equipped with the latest Thunderbolt 4 port, supporting powerful multitasking performance. At the same time, it delivers a higher resolution (5120 x 2160) than existing 40-inch 4K UHD monitors.

The LG UltraFine OLED Pro monitor is optimized for video production. It meets 99% of the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) standard color gamut DCI-P3 and supports True 10-bit, capable of displaying 1 billion colors. This allows customers to view colors that are close to those found in nature through the monitor.

It also features hardware calibration that corrects the difference between the monitor screen color and the actual color, resulting in rich and natural color expression. Jang Ik-hwan, head of LG Electronics’ IT Business Division, emphasized, “We will continue to lead the premium monitor market based on high-performance, high-quality new products.”
