[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that the Jindo Office of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, which has been in operation for 28 years, will be newly rebuilt and relocated to a more accessible area for civil petitioners.

The current Jindo Office building is aging and lacks sufficient parking space, causing considerable inconvenience to farmers and others visiting the office.

At the end of last year, a budget of 2.7 billion KRW, including land acquisition costs, was approved by the National Assembly. Design work began this year, with construction scheduled to start in the first half of next year, followed by completion and relocation to the new office in the second half.

The new office will be a two-story building, housing offices, a civil petition guidance room, and an agricultural product inspection and appraisal room.

The Jindo Office of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service expects to provide greater convenience to farmers and others in a wider and more comfortable environment once the new building is completed.

A representative from the Agricultural Support Division of Jindo-gun said, “We welcome the construction of the new Jindo Office of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, a long-awaited project for Jindo farmers,” adding, “Once completed, the new office is expected to provide a comfortable environment for customized agricultural administration services.”

Meanwhile, the Jindo Office of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service was merged with the Haenam Office in 1998 to carry out agricultural administration tasks but was re-established as an independent Jindo Office in February last year after 21 years.
