원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 5th that it has appointed six local veterinarians as the ‘2021 Sancheong-gun Contracted Veterinarians’ to proactively prevent highly pathogenic AI and other livestock infectious diseases.
The appointment of contracted veterinarians aims to smoothly carry out livestock quarantine projects and effectively block the regional inflow of African Swine Fever, Foot-and-Mouth Disease, and other diseases.
The county appointed six local practicing veterinarians, including Kang Doo-young, as contracted veterinarians.
They will perform overall livestock quarantine duties for one year.
They are responsible for medical treatment, disease surveillance, vaccination, blood sampling for infectious disease serological tests, and quarantine guidance such as AI diagnostic kit testing at poultry farms for all livestock in the county, including 13,000 cattle, 97,000 pigs, and 1.07 million chickens.
A county official said, “As the frequency of livestock infectious diseases such as ASF, Foot-and-Mouth Disease, and highly pathogenic AI continues to increase, we aim to establish a field-centered quarantine system through the appointment and operation of contracted veterinarians. We also ask local livestock farmers to actively cooperate in disease prevention and quarantine activities.”
