[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 31st that it will hold a sunrise live broadcast in line with current trends, as the annual New Year's sunrise event was canceled due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
At the Miryang Arirang Space Observatory, a sunrise broadcast will be streamed on YouTube from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM on January 1st.
The broadcast will feature sunrise footage and real-time solar observation.
The broadcast will take place at local sunrise spots, and the sunrise rising between mountain ridges is expected to offer a unique view, different from the usual monotonous sunrises seen over the East Sea.
An observatory official said, "We are conducting the broadcast with the hope that it will provide a small help to those who have had a difficult time due to COVID-19 in making new resolutions for the new year," adding, "In 2021, we hope COVID-19 will end soon so we can show the stars to many people."
