[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Miryang City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 31st that it has been selecting Agricultural Technology Masters since 2021.
The number of Agricultural Technology Masters to be selected is two, planned to be chosen from five fields: food crops, fruit & floriculture, vegetables & specialty crops, livestock, and agricultural product processing.
Agricultural Technology Masters are farmers who have contributed to the development and advancement of agricultural technology, have engaged in farming for more than 10 years, and have achievements in the relevant field for more than 3 years or have contributed to the development of agriculture and rural areas and serve as role models for others. They are eligible to apply.
Applications can be submitted to the administrative welfare centers of the applicant's town, township, or neighborhood, and after document and on-site evaluations and review meetings, the final selection will be made in December.
Those selected as masters will receive a master certification plaque and can guide advanced technology to general farms. They can also use their own managed farms as on-site technical training centers to disseminate farming technology.
The city plans to support this by enacting related ordinances.
Ha Sang-yang, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We hope that the skills and life philosophies of the agricultural masters who have reached the highest level in each agricultural item in our city will be widely known, bringing a new breeze of change and innovation to the agricultural field," and added, "We hope many excellent farmers will apply."
