[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] It has been confirmed that the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters detected defects in a total of 657 targets through this year's special fire inspection.

The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced the results of the special fire inspection on major targets in the province in 2020 on the 31st.

In July this year, Jeonnam Fire established special fire inspection teams within the Fire Headquarters and five city-level fire stations through organizational restructuring, strengthening autonomous safety management such as fire safety consulting, while enhancing expertise in fire inspections and preventive administration.

With the newly strengthened special fire inspection teams, on-site visits were conducted to fire-prone areas such as fire alert zones, traditional markets, and high-rise buildings in the province, focusing on checking the legality of maintenance and management of fire facilities and evacuation/fire prevention facilities.

This year's special fire inspections were conducted 11 times on a total of 2,739 specific fire targets (buildings equipped with fire facilities), among which defects were detected in 657 targets.

The defect rate for the 2,739 locations was 24%, and administrative actions were taken to normalize the operation of fire facilities, including 1 case of indictment, 145 fines, 626 corrective orders, and 129 notifications to relevant agencies.

Based on this year's special fire inspection results and fire statistics, the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters plans to set the direction for the 2021 special fire inspections, focusing on fire-prone targets to preemptively eliminate risk factors and ensure the legality of maintenance and management of fire facilities.

Ma Jaeyoon, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, "We will do our best to protect the lives and property of the residents," adding, "Along with the efforts of the fire stations, the maintenance and management of fire facilities by building stakeholders must be supported."
