(CEO Park Byung-min), the gold prize to Froms Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Joo-an), and the bronze prize to PMCTech Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Dong-won).
Following strengthened COVID-19 quarantine management measures at the end of the year, the year-end closing ceremony was held on a reduced scale on the 31st, during which the Industrial Peace Award plaque and flag were presented to Sungkwang Enterprise Co., Ltd., the grand prize winner of this year’s Jeollanam-do Industrial Peace Award.
The Jeonnam Industrial Peace Award is selected for exemplary companies operating in the province for more than three years that have made significant contributions to labor-management harmony and the establishment of industrial peace, and have no violations of the 「Labor-Management Relations Act」 such as illegal labor disputes, wage arrears, or industrial accidents within the last three years.
This year’s grand prize winner, Sungkwang Enterprise Co., Ltd., is a company that produces sling wire ropes and supports operations at POSCO’s hot-rolled and cold-rolled plants. The company has made continuous efforts to create and stabilize employment by enhancing labor-management community awareness through initiatives such as the ‘Sungkwang Happiness Card System,’ improving organizational culture, and creating jobs for young people.
The company was recognized for its contributions to establishing an advanced labor-management culture, including improvements to the rank system for on-site workers, reforming the 4-shift 3-team work system, permanent labor-management peace declarations, and delegating wage issues to management.
The gold prize winner, Froms Co., Ltd., supports operations at POSCO’s hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and heavy plate plants. Since starting its business in January 2006, it has maintained a dispute-free workplace through labor-management communication management and actively implemented system improvements and labor-management harmony programs to enhance employee welfare and benefits.
The company was acknowledged for its contributions to fostering a cooperative labor-management atmosphere, continuous business expansion, and revitalizing the local economy through increased employment.
The bronze prize winner, PMCTech Co., Ltd., is Korea’s first carbon material specialist company producing bed coke. It has built a trustful and cooperative labor-management culture through quarterly labor-management council meetings, permanent labor-management peace declarations, and dispute-free wage settlements, striving to establish a collaborative labor-management culture.
The company was recognized for its achievements in improving productivity based on safety, creating and stabilizing youth employment, and actively participating in volunteer activities benefiting social welfare facilities, realizing the value of shared management in harmony with the local community.
Lim Chae-gi, Director of the Regional Economy Division, said, “All three companies from Gwangyang City selected for this year’s Jeollanam-do Industrial Peace Award have previously been recognized as ‘Gwangyang City Excellent Labor-Management Culture Companies’ (Sungkwang Enterprise in Q4 last year, Froms in Q3 last year, and PMCTech in Q3 this year).” He added, “The city will continue to discover and support various policies to foster a labor-management culture atmosphere and boost corporate morale.”
Meanwhile, companies selected for the ‘Jeonnam Industrial Peace Award’ will receive special benefits such as preferential interest rates on small and medium enterprise management stabilization funds, promotional support through Jeonnam Saetteumji, and additional points for selecting scholarship recipients among employees’ children.
