[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Seodaeseok) announced on the 31st that it was selected as an excellent institution in the 2020 local government youth policy analysis and evaluation and received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award.

It is the only district selected among the five autonomous districts in Gwangju.

This evaluation was promoted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to strengthen youth policy capabilities and accountability.

The evaluation, conducted on 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and 114 cities, counties, and districts, analyzed and evaluated the performance of youth policy in the areas of youth protection and welfare, and 17 local governments were selected as excellent institutions.

Seo-gu has been striving to strengthen the social safety net for youth protection by operating a shared childcare center and the Dream Growth Learning School for out-of-school youth to create a happy youth-friendly city where youth can play and dream.

A Seo-gu official said, “We will continue to pay attention to supporting the healthy growth of youth, including emotional cultivation and physical and mental training, and creating a safe environment.”

Meanwhile, Seo-gu is promoting the construction project of the (tentative name) Ssangchon Youth Culture House, a building with one basement floor and four above-ground floors, aiming for completion in 2022 as part of the youth facility expansion project.
