[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, stated on the 31st regarding the unification of opposition candidates for next year's Seoul mayoral by-election, "Since we are the main opposition party, it would be most desirable in principle if (Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party) could join the People Power Party and participate in the primary."

After the emergency committee meeting that day, Joo told reporters, "It seems everyone agrees that the opposition should unite and unify," adding, "However, there are slight differences in the methodology, and we need to work out the details through dialogue."

Regarding the early overheating of the Busan mayoral primary, Joo said, "I have also heard such concerns," and added, "I understand that the nomination management committee is responsible for verification and managing fair elections."

On the rise in the party’s approval ratings, Joo said, "The public has withdrawn support as they realize that President Moon Jae-in and the Democratic Party regime are too incompetent and continue unconstitutional oppressive rule," and added, "I believe our party is presenting alternatives through unity and harmony, thereby regaining the trust of the people."
