In the early childhood education category, the ‘Yoon’s Speaking Talk 6-Month Pass’ is available at a 40% discount for 107,800 KRW, and the ‘Kakao Kids Homeschool 2-Year Pass’ including a coding robot can be purchased for 190,800 KRW. In the self-development area, the ‘Willa Audiobook + Class Unlimited Membership 6-Month Pass’ is offered at a 10% discount for 72,900 KRW, and the ‘Millie’s Library 6-Month Subscription’ is available at a 9% discount for 54,000 KRW. Additionally, TOEIC and OPIC workbooks are introduced with free shipping benefits, and related exhibitions offer reference books and other materials at reasonable prices.
Trial products are also available. Representative elementary curriculum brands such as Cheonjae Textbook Milk Tea, Ice Cream Home Run, Woongjin Smart All, Visang Wise Camp, and Wink provide free trial products along with special gifts. On Gmarket, the ‘Cheonjae Education MilkT Elementary and Middle School 10-Day Trial Learning Product’ is offered for free. Meanwhile, in the recent week before the New Year (11/23?12/29), children’s book sales on Gmarket more than doubled (177%) compared to the same period last year, with elementary and middle/high school reference books increasing by 75% and 60%, respectively. Foreign language books rose by 56%, and exam and certification-related books also showed a 43% increase. During the same period, Auction also saw popularity in foreign language books (62%), various certification books (57%), children’s books (267%), self-development (74%), and elementary reference books (188%).
Kim Bongjun, Manager of eBay Korea’s Book Culture Business Team, said, “This promotion was prepared to offer exceptional benefits to those planning language study, various exams, or homeschooling for children in the New Year 2021,” adding, “As people spend more time at home, interest in education and self-development products is growing, and related demand is expected to surge further.”
