Pohang City Reports 8 New COVID-19 Cases on Christmas... Mayor Lee Kang-deok Announces Nighttime Operation of Screening Clinics

As of 8 PM on the 25th, cumulative confirmed cases in Pohang rise to 198

Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang City presiding over an emergency meeting on special quarantine measures in response to COVID-19 on the 25th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Dongwook Park] On the 25th, 8 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were added in Pohang City, where secondary infections are spreading.

New confirmed cases 191 and 192 (Nam-gu, Pohang) are contacts of the previously unidentified infection route case 189, and cases 193 and 194 (Buk-gu) are currently under investigation for their infection routes.

Confirmed cases 195 and 197 (Nam-gu) are contacts of the unidentified infection route case 188, and case 196 (Nam-gu) is an overseas entrant residing in Pohang.

Case 198 is a contact of Pohang case 185 (participant of Hyunhyeon Somang Church Kids School in Jangseong-dong, Buk-gu).

Meanwhile, Pohang City held an emergency special quarantine countermeasure meeting chaired by Mayor Lee Kang-deok on the same day, and decided to extend the operating hours of the screening clinics at the Nam and Buk public health centers into the night to provide free testing.

As of 8 PM on the 25th, 82 confirmed cases have occurred in Pohang in December alone.
