[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun sent a letter on the 17th to Kamala Harris, the U.S. Vice President-elect, stating, "Let us develop the ROK-U.S. alliance beyond a security and economic alliance that serves as the core axis of stability on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia into a comprehensive strategic alliance that contributes to solving global issues."
The Prime Minister's Office reported that Prime Minister Chung sent this letter to Vice President-elect Harris on the same day.
Prime Minister Chung emphasized, "I hope the two countries will communicate closely to achieve denuclearization and peace settlement on the Korean Peninsula."
Additionally, the Prime Minister's Office conveyed that Prime Minister Chung expressed respect and expectations for Harris as a woman and a person of color who represents the diversity and inclusiveness of American society.
